Jeffrey W. Eckel

Chair

Jeffrey "Jeff" W. Eckel has served as chair since March 2025 and served as executive chair from March 2023 to March 2025. Mr. Eckel previously served as chief executive officer, president, and chair from 2013 through February 2023, and was with the predecessor of our company as president and chief executive officer since 2000, and prior to that from 1985 to 1989 as a senior vice president.

Over the past several decades, he has led the development and execution of a strategic vision that has established HASI as a globally recognized climate investor with a leading record of shareholder returns. Before returning to HASI in 2000 to focus on the enormous sustainable business opportunity of financing decarbonization, Mr. Eckel served as chief financial officer of Wärtsilä Diesel North America, president of Wärtsilä Power Development, and chief executive officer of EnergyWorks, a joint venture of Bechtel Enterprises.

Mr. Eckel serves on the board of trustees of The Nature Conservancy of Maryland and DC. Mr. Eckel was appointed by the Governor of Maryland to the board of the Maryland Clean Energy Center in 2011, where he served until 2016, also serving as its chairman from 2012 to 2014. Mr. Eckel has over 35 years of experience in financing, owning, and operating infrastructure and energy assets. Mr. Eckel received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University in 1980 and a Master of Public Administration degree from Syracuse University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, in 1981.
